Packers Draft Needs

With the NFL draft coming up, I am going to cover the Packers biggest needs going into the off season.

1. Playmaking pass catchers on the offensive side of the ball: The Packers Red Zone Offense was one of the worst in the NFL. Drafting a big target like Dwayne Jarrett in the first round or Robert Mechem in the second round would cover that. Also picking up a guy like Drew Bennett or Eric Johnson in the Free Agency couldn't hurt either. The Packers need to give Brett more weapons.

2. Running Back of the Future: Ahman Green isn't getting any younger, and having a stable of good running backs is better than not. Drafting a guy like Marshawn Lynch in the first round could cover that. I also like Brandon Jackson from Nebraska, He's smart and he is already in the zone blocking system. He'll be available in the 2nd or 3rd round.

3. Secondary Woes: I like 3 out of the 4 starters. Marquand Manuel is just not that good, plus Harris is nearing the later part of his career. For safety, I like Michael Rouse from Virginia Tech. he is 6'4 and has top end safety speed. He should be available in the 2nd or 3rd round. At corner, players like Marcus McCauley from Fresno State, and Aaron Ross from Texas are both big and physical corners that would fit the mold of the Packers Defense. They may both be available in the middle second round.

4. Special Teams: Packers were one of the worst special teams units. Which tells me two things. 1 they are young, and 2 they are drafting poorly. You want every player on your team to be a potential starter. The Packers had a great draft last year, and I hop they continue bringing in quality players who performed well at the college level. Also getting a good return specialist. The two I like are Breaston from Michigan (5-7 round) and Garrett Wolfe from Northern Illinois (4-6 Round). Wolfe could also make a great 3rd down back, he is quick and shifty. Reminds me of a taller Darrin Sproels.

The Meat has spoken.
